I tackled a few things this morning ... first I attached the second cuff, then I painted the shirt, and later I started on a belt.

The shirt I wanted to make a nice blue color. Painting fabrics is kind of becoming a ‘thing‘ with me (maybe a style) I feel it brings whatever it is, an old piece of t-shirt or sweater, into my world and makes it look like it belongs there.

This it just the first coat. I try and go a bit dark at first, that way I can build up the textures and lights later on.

For the belt I started with a quick sketch, just to get an idea in my mind.

I cut a belt pattern in paper, then I rubbed ‘bake-n-bend’ Sculpey  into t-shirt fabric. Bake-n-bend is a kind of Sculpey that stays relatively flexible once its cooked. More tomorrow …

YES!!!! Painted fabric clothing is so fantastic for your project!!

And rubbing the clay into the weave to make leather is ingenious!

Go Jeff!
