Thanks everyone for all the great comments over the last couple of days.
My internet went down Friday night, and I wasn't able to get it back on till today. The guy from 'Century Link' said the power company cut the line to my house while they were working in the neighborhood.
Going without net access for a few days has really made me realize how much the blog and the tiny community of other artists and animators that visit each day means to me.
Over the weekend I made and installed a wooden block in my puppet chest. I wanted something hard I could grab hold of while animating, I also wanted a good place to tie in a rig.
I like rigs and I like tie downs. One thing I’ve learn in the limited time I’ve spent animating … The more stable you can keep a puppet, the easier it to animate.
I filled out the body using cushion foam and adhesive wrap. I was careful to keep as many holes as possible open to the armature beneath, just in case something starts to loosen up.
I would also routinely bend and move the puppet around, to make sure all the joints still worked right under the new foam layer.

Such a beautiful and well-crafted armatured puppet, Jeff. Truly exception work! I love it.
If all of us in the stop mo world are disconnected for some reason, let's all assume we are all out here for each other, rooting and cheering, even if we don't know precisely what's being done.
Rock on.
